Contra Costa Women's Health and Perinatal Services
"The goal of the perinatal unit is to provide comprehensive, personalized, family-focused care. The unit's eight private rooms are beautifully appointed and designed to allow a woman to remain in one room - from labor and delivery through her recovery. We also offer couplet care - care for both mother and newborn - giving new mothers the option of either having their baby sleep with them in the room or in the nursery at night. A patient demonstration lounge for breast feeding consultations, informational sessions on newborn safety, and education for parents with special-needs babies is also a part of the unit. Other special features of the unit include two dedicated operating rooms and an "early labor lounge," where patients can be monitored in a comfortable environment without actually being admitted.
Our Intermediate Care Nursery allows moderately sick infants to remain in the hospital with mom nearby. A special "Boarder Room" is available to accommodate the discharged mother who is learning to care for her special-needs newborn.
We also offer a comprehensive prenatal program through a network of conveniently located Healthy Start/prenatal clinics. Healthy Start offers childbirth and lactation education; makes referrals as needed; offers genetic counseling; prenatal testing; community outreach;Public Health services; Social Services and a Born Free Program. Healthy Start is your liaison between your doctor and you.

"STAND! For Families Free of Violence is committed to promoting safe and strong families. Our approach to eliminating family violence is well-rounded and community-wide. In addition to providing a complete spectrum of prevention, intervention, and treatment programs, we also enlist the efforts of local residents, partners, and institutions, all of whom are striving with us to stop domestic violence and child abuse.
STAND! is a founding member of the Zero Tolerance for Domestic Violence Initiative, a cross-sector organization working to help solve domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. However, we cannot achieve our mission without the help of every individual, every school, every faith community, every neighborhood, and every business."
